An Ebutte-Metta Chief Magistrate court has remanded the sales representative of a food vendor, Goodness Innocent, in the Kirikiri custodial centre, on Wednesday, July 19, for allegedly stealing the sum of N2.3m from her employer.
The 21-year-old was arraigned by the police on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, had told the court that the defendant and others still at large conspired to commit the alleged offences.
Osuji said Innocent stole a bank Automated Teller Machine card from her employer, Kehinde Odiye, and allegedly withdrew N2.3m on July 16, 2023, around 5pm, at No. 168, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
According to him, the offence committed contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
When the charges were read, the Magistrate, Olanike Olagbende, granted Innocent N1m bail with one surety and ordered that she be remanded in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre until the bail conditions are met.
She then adjourned the case till August 10, 2023.
